We’ll keep seeing blue, gray, and of course black and white dial colors in the watch market. Over the last several years, luxury watch brands have started to embrace green as a featured color on watch dials. Here, we take a look at 3 green-dial timepieces that look amazing.
The Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio (PAM00736) comes in the old-school Panerai size of 47mm, which will be too large for many would-be customers but certainly makes a definitive statement. The stainless steel watch recalls Panerai’s famed design of 1940, when the Royal Italian Navy’s elite underwater commandos wore such pieces on their mission to destroy enemy ships. And it is powered by the P.3000 manual wind mechanical calibre with a power reserve of three days. The indications at the green sandwich dial are luminous with beige Super-LumiNova and they’re within the classic replica Panerai review style: large figures and linear hour markers, small seconds counter, and date window at 3 o’clock.
Solid and reliable, the movement has three brushed-finish bridges protecting the mechanism and a bridge with twin supports for the balance wheel 13.2 mm in diameter, which oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz. This attractive watch is waterproof to 10 bar (a depth of about 100 metres). Priced at $9,200 it’s the most affordable way to get into one of these exclusive new green dialed Panerais.
Rolex Submariner 116610 LV
Released in 2010, the Rolex Submariner Reference 116610LV immediately became a must-have for watch collectors and fashionistas alike. It was hardly that I didn’t like it – especially as I am pretty sure green is my favorite color. It is beloved for its unorthodox color, and unique strength. Obviously, the main characteristic of the watch is the color of its bezel and dial, but another important feature is the Cerachrom bezel (unidirectional rotatable, 60-minute graduated). The 40 mm diameter case is made of the very resistant 904L steel. And the watch comes equipped with caliber 3135, an in-house movement boasting a power reserve of 48 hours.
Water resistant to 300 meters (as if anyone doesn’t know the Rolex Submariner’s iconic water resistance rating) the Rolex Submariner makes the perfect daily sport watch with its relatively thick case and classy look that can actually become formal when necessary. In black, the Rolex Submariner has the versatility of a black tuxedo (James Bond does sporty stuff in a tux), but what about in green?
